The SGH Education Support Project Idea Presentations
March 20, 2015
Three SGH delegates went to the Philippines in December 2014. The three students shared with the rest of the class their experience, what they saw and learned in the trip. In response to the information, the students came up with the ideas for educational support in the Philippines and they presented the ideas in the idea contest. The 40 SGH students were divided into 11 groups, each group gave a power-point presentation on their ideas.
This time, the class had guest evaluators from Temple University Japan, NPO CFF and Junten teachers. The evaluators asked a lot of questions to check how the students came up with the idea, how well they have understood global issues and what the reasoning behind for the idea. The students also asked questions to the presenters and exchanged meaningful discussions.
After finishing all the 11 presentation, there was an additional surprise presentation at the end, which was a presentation by Principal Nagatsuka. Principal gave a presentation on what he experienced in the Philippines and showed how to critically think, develop hypothesis and analyze research results. It was an inspirational and stimulus presentation for the students.
The class spent over three hours in discussion and evaluation of all the presentations, but the students were very passionate about giving their thoughts and opinions until the class finally was over. The result of the contest will be announced in the 1st SGH meeting on April 18. Temple University will award a prize to the best idea.
