New Coronavirus Response : Temporary School Closure Continues
In order to combat the new coronavirus infection, our school and other schools across the country were temporarily closed from March 2 to during the spring vacation period. In accordance with the policy of the Government of Japan (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology), we have been making preparations for the reopening of schools from the new academic year, but unfortunately, we will continue the temporary closing of schools for the time being in line with the measures taken by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government (board of education).
Accordingly, the enrollment and opening ceremonies will be changed to “liaison meeting” in order to respond to ICT support for learning during the period when the school is closed, and the following replacement will be implemented. We would like to ask for your understanding and cooperation in preparing for the reopening of schools in the new fiscal year.
1. Continuation of temporary closing: Saturday, April 4 to Wednesday, May 6
・We will make a decision again in mid-April about the extension of the closing, but since the Tokyo Metropolitan Government says that schools will resume on or after May 7, it is basically expected to close till then.
・Avoid unnecessary and non-urgent outings, study at home, and keep yourself healthy in a safe environment.
2. The entrance ceremony for new students: held on Monday, April 6 in place of the “liaison meeting” held by Junior and Senior High School students.
・According to the policy of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the enrollment ceremony can be held on the scheduled date, but for our school, we will change it to a distributed liaison meeting. Junior high school students go to Oji Campus at 10 AM, and senior high school students go to school at 1:00 PM. Please wear the school uniform and use the designated backpack.
・At the liaison meeting, parents (1 person) are asked to participate in the confirmation and explanation of the ICT environment. If you have a smartphone or tablet PC at both junior and senior high schools, please bring it with you.
・Please wear a mask on the train or school premises to prevent infection. (The mask in the nurse’s room is not enough, so please bring it by yourself.)
*We sincerely apologize to the new students and their parents who were looking forward to the entrance ceremony. In addition, the principal will make a speech at the liaison meeting, and the President’s speech and the principal’s speech at the entrance ceremony, as well as welcoming words from the students will be posted on the school website at a later date.
3. The opening ceremony of the current students will be held by dispersing the dates and times by grade and replacing them with “liaison meeting”
・According to the policy of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the commencement ceremony can be held on the scheduled date, but for our school, we will change it to a liaison meeting in a decentralized form as follows.
Tuesday, April 7
New 3rd year of Junior High School : Starting at 10 AM
New 2nd year of Junior High School (1st and 2nd class in the previous year) 12:30 PM
New 2nd year of Junior High School (3-4 groups in the previous year) 2:00 PM
Monday, April 13
New 3rd year of new Senior High School : Starting at 10 AM
New 2nd year of new Senior High School : 1:00 PM
・In the liaison meeting, we will confirm and explain the ICT environment during the school closure period, as well as communicate and explain various matters necessary for the new school year.
・Please wear a mask on the train or school premises to prevent infection. (The mask in the nurse’s room is not enough, so please bring it by yourself.)
4. Other changes with the schedule
*The junior high school Akamon excursion, high school school stay and junior high school school school stay scheduled in April of the first term will be cancelled.
*In addition, as the temporary closing period is expected to be extended for a long time, we plan to make efforts to secure class time by drastically reviewing the event schedule after school restarts.
*The club activities during the temporary closing period will be cancelled, and the extracurricular class for the 3rd grade students will be postponed. School facilities cannot be used.
*If you need individual correspondence for career guidance, please contact the teacher in charge beforehand. In this case as well, responses using ICT will be fundamental.
