The 2nd Year Senior High School Students Visited Sydney

On August 28th, a group of Junten students who went to Sydney Australia to study returned to Japan. The main part of the trip was a 2 nights 3 days farm stay, also visited some world heritage sites, such as Blue Mountains and Opera House and zoos in Australia.  The students also visited St.Ives School, which is a sister school of Junten to study.

August 17:
Junten students left Japan taking an evening flight to Sydney. They were traveling to a country located in the Southern Hemispheres so the season in Sydney was winter.

The group went to Sydney first and visited Darling Harbour and Opera House. Mrs. Macquarie’s Point is where the symbol of Sydney, Opera House” is located. The students walked around Harbour Bridge to see the Sydney Bay, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful ports in the world. It was a beautiful day so students were also able to see Sydney Tower.

The group left Sydney and went to North Richmond. Today, they will start their home stay for 2 nights and 3 days!

After completing their homestay, they went to Sydney.  They saw koalas, kangaroos and crocodiles and fed kangaroos and wallabies. They spent two hours at the zoo.

After lunch, they went to Blue Mountains National Park. There is a space of one million hectares that has the forest of tall tress, sandstone cliffs, canyons, waterfalls… such breathtaking views were scattered everywhere.

Junten students took a scenic skyway gondola across Jamison Valley and enjoyed spectacular views of the Three Sisters and
Solitary Mountain. There is also a Scenic Railway, which is the world's most steep passenger railway that descends 310m from the cliff.

The next day, students explored the world's oldest limestone cave, Geno Lan Cave, also in Blue Mountains National Park.
There was an explanation of stromatolites along the way. It was a scene that we would not be able to see in Japan!

After sightseeing in Blue Mountains, students enjoyed dinner cruise. On this day, they saw fireworks and had a wonderful time.
There was also a surprise for students who had their birthdays during the trip!

On the last day, we went to St. Ives High School, Junten's sister school. After the welcome ceremony,
Junten students participated in classes, dancing and introduced Japanese culture to Ives students. This year, we gave a presentation on
how to use polite manners, origami and chopsticks.

It was an eventful 6 days and 4 nights. After this, students will write reports as the SGH activities. Junten students were expected to finish this report but the faculty members are hoping that the fun part of the trip should not be degraded by having to write the reports!
