SGH Study Abroad Orientation for the 2nd Year Senior High School Students
Between July and August, the students of 2nd Year of Senior High School have six destinations (Sydney, Canada, New Zealand, Taiwan, Brisbane and Thailand) that they can choose from for their study abroad programs. The last year in October, the students had already chosen their preferred destination and had prepared themselves for the programs. Since April this year, the students advanced to the 2nd Year of Senior High School, they have taken prep courses for over 10 hours. Here are the reports from their preparation courses.

On Saturday June 2nd, the 2nd Year students attended a workshop to prepare themselves for their study abroad programs.
The Sydney Course Students: The students discussed how they spend their time in Sydney. They used the internet and books to learn about the local culture, interesting areas and information about the city.

The Canada Course Students: They worked on the presentation materials that they will show at the local schools. They used the internet to know how Japan is viewed by people in Canada. At the end of the course, they are planning to give a presentation about what they learned in Canada.

The New Zealand Course Students : The students will research the differences between Japan and New Zealand and give a presentation about their findings. They will also show how attractive Japan is introducing animation, education and disaster management.

The Taiwan Course Students : At the beginning, they took an orientation given by the travel agency. After that, they wrote a report on what they have learned about Taiwan.

The Brisbane Course : They worked on their reports. The students who go to Brisbane will go to local schools and take science classes at a local university. They exchanged their ideas and compared their findings.

The Thailand Course : Students gave a presentation on their research on Thailand. According to the issue they have found, they have set their own hypotheses. Some of the students had talked with their mentors who had visited Thailand and they used the information for their presentations.

Students were interested in each other’s research topics and findings. Then they exchanged their ideas and shared their thoughts and opinions. It seemed that active discussions were going on.
Next session with be the final preparation session. The students will learn the schedules and itineraries.
On the same day, the 1st year students were working on their short Philippine Research Presentations.
