2018 Sydney Study Abroad Course

On August 23rd, the 98 students of the 2nd year senior high school who were in Australia for the Sydney Study Abroad Course safely came back to Japan. During their full-of-excitment 4 night 6 day stay, they spend two nights at their homestay families and visited Blue Mountains, Opera House and a zoo to see animals unique toOceania. They also explored the city of Sydney and visited St.Ives School, where the students from Junten and Ives met and spent time to get to know each other.

The group of Junten students left Haneda at night on August 17th. When they wake up, they will be in Sydney! It was already in Winter, so it was much colder than Japan.

The group went to Sydney Zoo. There were koalas, kangaroos and crocodiles to whom the students can feed.

The group left the zoo, then went to their homestay families. They seemed to be a little nervous.

But enjoy!

After the homestays, the students went to the World Heritage site, Blue Mountains and explored Jenolan Caves, the oldest caves in the world. The students learned about stromatolites at the site. It is such a beautiful site that you can’t see in Japan.

The group moved to Sydney after Blue Mountain, then walked around Darling Harbour and Opera House. It was a beautiful day. The students had dinner on cruise.

O the last day, the group visited St.Ives schools. After the welcome ceremony, Junten students attended a class, danced Bush Dance and Junten students introduced Japanese culture, where they showed Hagoita, Kendama, Daruma and Kendo. Australian students were enjoying the presentation!

There was a lot of excitement and inspiration. Now the students who went to Australia are working on their reports! Good luck!
