Junten Senior High School 2nd Year : Study Abroad Program in Canada (1)

On July 24th, 36 students of the 2nd Year Senior High School left for British Columbia, Canada. This study program focuses on interactive English. There were a lot of applicants, so Junten set the higher English abilities for the qualification for the final candidates.

At 9:50 PM, the group left Haneda then flew toVancouver. In Vancouver, they took a ferry to Schwartz Bay, where St, Michales University High School (SMUS) is located. The SMUS’s school bus was waiting for the group at the bay.

It only took 30 minutes to get to the SMUS campus. The Junten students met the host families at the school, then “going home” with them at around 8:30 PM.

On the 25th, at 8:00 am, the host families drove the Junten students to SMUS.

At 8:30 AM, there was an opening ceremony. Dawn Willson from Extension Program gave a welcome remark. Then Mr.Ben Edwards, who is the coordinator of the Student Ambassador (SA) greeted and introduced SAs to Junten students.

After the Junten students toured in the campus, the 1st lesson begun. There are three levels depending on the academic skills.

At 11: 30 AM, students had buffet lunch at the brand-new “New Brown Hall”.

In the afternoon the students went to the main part of the town, DownTown.

In DownTown, they enjoyed “Scavenger Hunt”. Students were to find the sightseeing spots scattered around on the map, then take pictures of the highlights of them and send them to SAs. The team that were able to found the most of the highlights (in total there are 19 of them) wins. SA gave the instruction and rules.

At 3:30 PM, the group left DownTown for SMUS where their hosts were waiting to pick them up.
