Junten Junior High School / Senior High School

On Saturday May 26th, Ms.Magno gave a lecture on her country, the Philippines. The students are 1st Year students of Junten Senior High School. 

The lecture started with the quizzes about the Philippines. The questions asked the country’s capital city, language, history and geography. Students seemed to already have know about the country well. 

Next, Ms.Magno talked about the current Philippines, showing some photographs. We tend to have images about the Philippines, as “developing country” or “poor country” but there is a big issue, that is the gap between the rich and the poor. Ms.Magno addressed what the root problem are with the wealth gap. The students an teachers who went to the Philippines last year also shared their feedbacks and thoughts, so the images that the students had about the Philippines have become more clear.  

After Ms.Magno’s lecture, everyone went back to their classroom to explore further about the Philippines. They used their handheld devices to check on the internet to gain more knowledge about the Philippines. Based on Ms.Magno’s lecture, students have explored more about the issues of the Philippines.
