◆Yokohama City University Academic Association International College of Arts and Sciences Dr.Takahiro Tsuchiya 【 Questionnaire, its Method and Interpretation 】Attended Students: 24
Many of you have seen survey results indicated by graphs, but would it be OK to simply compare the graphs to draw accurate conclusions? Dr.Tsuchiya shared that there are three things that need to know when comparing survey result graphs. 1) Respondents likely to choose the earlier answers (Early Effect), 2) For the questions with “multiple answers allowed”, people tend to think that picking three is reasonable, so correct answers are not likely to be drawn, 3) Asking to pick a range of numbers, responses vary greatly and 4) Questions before and after will influence the response to the current questions. The layout of response documents also influence.
Student Comment: ● I learned useful information for SGH. We will take different surveys in the SGH projects, so today’s learning was very helpful. I also need to make sure to have the same questions to compare the results every year. ● I have taken survey in the past and it is true that I changed my responses because of the questions before and after. I think today’s lecture was really helpful for the SGH Fieldwork in the Philippines.
