Junten High School 2nd Year SGH Students to Attend Dr.Iwata, Gakushuin University’s Lecture

On Saturday November 25th, 2nd Year students attended a lecture provided by Mr.Kimio Iwata, Faculty of Law and Politics, Gakushuin University. This is a great opportunity for the students to learn about the “world.”

When he was in college, Mr.Iwata wanted to place himself close to historical events and witness them so he chose a media and communication path as his career. Dr.Iwata had worked for Yomiuri TV for along time, he has covered Tiananmen Square Massacre, Rwanda Genocide and he interviewed Aung San Suu Kyi.  He also went to Israel, Ground Zero in New York to cover the historical stories. With the wealth of experience, Mr.Iwata appeared as an advisor for the TV programs “Wake Up! Plus” and “Information Live, Mineya-Ya.”

Mr.Iwata has actually seen the historical events that you can only see in textbooks. He was in conflict areas such as Jerusalem. Mr.Iwata connected the events in the textbooks with real stories that he experienced in the very regions.

Mr.Iwata gave a message onto young students:

“Please know that now is not everything, and now is a connection to the future. And please also know that the world is moving forward”.

Junten students have learned about the “world” through SGH, so the majority of students are interested in the world and the events happening in the world. This lecture must have been a very influential one for the students. A lot of 2nd Year students will prepare for their entrance exams, but what they learned today will flourish to their futures.
