Junten Students to go to New York on the Ministry of Foreign Affair’s KAKEHASHI Program

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has a project called Japan’s Friendship Ties Program (U.S.A.) “KAKEHASHI Project” and 100 participants form 4 schools, including some faculty members who lead the groups, will visit the United States. Junten was selected for one of the four schools and 23 students and two faculty members will go to New York City from February 21st to 28th, 2018.

Junten recruited the participants from the 1st Year High School students. Fourty-two students applied so Junten needed to select the candidates. Junten asked all the candidates to submit self-introduction essays then to have oral interviews in English and Japanese. Finally we selected 23 participants.

The program aims at promoting students’ understanding of Japan with regard to Japanese politics, economy, society, culture, history, and foreign policy. The participants are expected to inform the local students about Japan’s foreign policy and promote attractive Japan in order to build the foundation of effective Japanese foreign activities.
