Twenty-four schools in Japan and four schools from overseas participated this symposium and student gave presentations and discussions on SDGs and SGH. Tsukuba Sakado High School students and teachers worked to organize the event and foreign students in Japanese and Japanese students in English facilitated the whole symposium.
After oral presentations, there was a poster presentation session that was divided into two different topics.
The 1st session is for posters that numbered with odd numbers. Junten student gave a poster presentation on SGH Philippine Field trip and their field trip to Thailand. They addressed the issue on labor in both countries.
Student Comment: I was able to share my research project, but I thought I needed to improve my poster so that it can attract people’s attentions. I also learned from other presentations that I need to simplify the content, focusing on the analysis of the current situation, identify the issues and possible solutions.
After lunch, there was the 2nd Poster Presentation Session. This time the presentations with even numbers gave presentations in English. The student who sent to the Philippine Field Work last year and this year addressed the way to support education in the Philippines.
High School students an professors from the Philippines stopped to listen to the presentation. The professor told the student that she would help collecting date and resources about the education in the Philippines for Junten students.
Student Comment: I saw other poster presentations and thought that I will also use more colours and graphs for my poster presentation next time. presentation. I saw the presentations that were about the similar topics as mine. It was very helpful to see other students’ points of views on the same topics. Looking around and seeing students trying very hard, that inspired me to study hard.
After the poster presentation, students were divided into small groups. Tsukuba Sakado’s students worked as facilitators and the entire groups discussed the possible themes for SGH projects.
The students had one message to the Ministry of Education: ” Please let us lead the SGH Project’s direction”. At the end, everyone smiled and group pictures were taken.
