Junten Junior High School / Senior High School

We went to Brisbaine, Australia from July 22nd to August 6th as our field trip. Twenty-two students took the trip and we spend two weeks styding at the local high school and universities and experience living with local families. 。(The Student’s Report about the trip is here.)

【Cavendish Road State High School】

We took the class at the high school with the local students and we did experiments together and did a field research on marine biology. Taking classes in English was hard, but everyone was friendly and we enjoyed studying very much.

【Griffith University】

At Griffith University, we worked on the synthesis and analysis of aspirin for three days and also we did some forensic science experiments. The experiment instructions and descriptions were all in English, so it was difficult, but the assistant teachers were very helpful. We used FTIR and HPLC, the devices we can not use at Junten, which was very exiting. We had fruitful three days. 

【Dream World】

On the day off, which was scheduled in the middle of the trip, we went to Dream World, which is the biggest amusement park in Australia. We took a road coaster ride and went to the zoo and saw koalas. We had spent every day studying English up to this break, this visit was a wonderful opportunity to recharge ourselves. 

【Home-Stay】

On weekdays, school finished at 3:30 PM. After school, we went shopping with the host-families or enjoyed barbecuing. My host family took me to an aquarium on weekend. I had never seen so many sharks, so I was very shocked but I realized how things are bigger in Australia. The experience made my host-family and me closer. They family made lunch and paid close attention to me. I am so grateful that I met my host-family. I hope to see them again. 

【Gold Coast and heading back to Japan】

On the last day, we went to Gold Coast. We walked on the beach, did some shopping. 

We appreciate that our parents, teachers as well as teachers from Cavendish and Griffith University provide a very meaningful two weeks to us. We will use the learning experience to do best in our best in the future.
