On Wednesday, December 21st, the SGH research team that is studying about the superfood, “Moringa,” had a Skype meeting with the chairperson of UNIQUEASE, Ms.Yachiyo Nakamuara. UNIQUEASE is a restaurant in the Philippines.
Ms .Nakamura opened her restaurant in Manila in 2010. The restaurant hires young Filipinos who grew up in poverty. UNIQUEASE provides career and educational opportunities for young Filipinos.. Junten students met UNIQUEASE staff at the 2016 Asian International Cooperation and Social Business Conference. Today, an administrative staff member from UNIQUEASE, Ms.Yuki Kawamura, visited Junten. First, Ms.Kawamura watched a poster presentation by Junten SGH students. The students gave this presentation at Rikkyo University. Then the students informed Ms.Kawamura about SGH’s progress at Junten. Next, the SGH students connected with UNIQUEASE restaurant in Manila on Skype, and discussed ideas like new menus that would attract high school students and how to spread information about the restaurant on social media.
Ms.Nakamura gave advice on how to develop new, creative menus and how to conserve food. She told the students, “once you’ve started a project, you have to continue it.” Finally, some Filipino members of UNIQUEASE’s staff joined the conversation.
Junten SGH students will continue to think about good ideas for a new menu at UNIQUEASE.
