Junten Faculty Attended the 2nd Workshop for the “Rubrics “ Assessment
On Saturday, December 17th, Juten faculty members attended the 2nd workshop about “Rubrics.” Junten invited Ms. Kaori Hakone to lecture. The workshop was about how to evaluate academic performances that are hard to quantify.
The first workshop was about how to use rubrics to evaluate “values.” Today’s workshop focused on sampling rubrics using the GRASPA model. Ms.Hakone also showed how to use the “One Point Rubric,” leading to a very informative workshop.
Ms.Hakone used student projects at her school and how they were evaluated as examples.

Some faculty members had thought that rubrics were too difficult to implement or too different from the evaluation methods they are familiar with. After the workshop, these faculty members said, “We have already implemented rubrics without noticing it”, “I would like to use it for my class,” or “I learned today that it is not that difficult.”

This workshop illustrated that rubrics are useful and accessible. It was a great opportunity as Junten teachers realized Junten has an ideal environment to implement rubrics.
