Juten Faculty Attended a Workshop to Learn “Rubrics “ Assessment
On Friday, December 9th, Junten staff attended a workshop to learn about Evaluation Rubrics, a rubric sets out clear criteria and standards for assessing student work and activities that are hard to quantify.
The new goals for academics focuses on “initiatives”, “cooperation” and “critical thinking.” Academia in Japan has not reviewed any successful rubric assessments in the past, so an original educational assessment system has not yet been developed. However, a universal method to grade academic performances is in high demand. Junten also needs to develop and implement an original rubric evaluation system to judge students’ performance and activities for programs like SGH.
In this workshop, the faculty members worked to develop assessments for both “values” and “skills.” A teacher who attended the workshop said that he better understood what rubrics are after the event and he would like to use them to benefit Junten’s academic activities.
