Junten SGH Students Attended A “Cross-Cultural Understanding and International Cooperation” Presentation
On Saturday, October 29th, Junten SGH students went to Tokyo Ryogoku High School to attend the Tokyo International Education Research Conference. This year’s topic is “Cross-Cultural Understanding and International Cooperation.” For this conference, high school students in Tokyo gave presentations about the topic.
Students and teachers from 10 different schools came to attend the conference and there were about 60 attendees at the venue. Students presented their experiences and findings about the countries and cultures that they studied. The countries that were discussed were Borneo, Myanmar, Bhutan, Cambodia and Indonesia. Each school had a very unique activity, which allowed for a very inspiring program.
From Junten Senior High School, two 1st Year students, Ms. Tomura and Ms. Sato participated in the conference. They talked about what they learned from their SGH fieldwork in the Philippines. Prior to the conference, Ms. Tomura and Ms. Sato practiced their presentation over and over, so they were well-prepared, yet when standing in front of the audience, they were very nervous. After the presentation, they were much more relaxed and said, “We will review today’s presentation so that we can present our ideas better next time.” Ms.Tomura and Ms.Sato have already set their next goal to advance their public speaking skills!
