Junten Junior High School / Senior High School

On Monday August 29th, the 2nd Year students and SGH teachers attended a JICA summer workshop called, “Practical Fair Trade in Education Workshop.” The lecturer was Ms.Reiko Inoue from PARCIC (The Pacific Asia Resource Center Interpeoples’ Cooperation), which is an NPO that promotes fair trade business. In the workshop, Ms.Inoue explained how fair trade works in developing countries and used interactive workshops so that attendants could have hands-on experience that encourages creative and dynamic thinking about the issues surrounding fair trade.

Since this workshop was held during summer vacation, there were a lot of student participants. SGH students from Junten High School researching fair trade attended this workshop. At the end of September, Junten SGH delegates are going to the Philippines for an SGH field trip.

Junten SGH students have deepened their understanding about their research topic, fair trade, and have developed a greater interest in research.  Students interviewed Ms.Inoue using questions they prepared before this workshop.
