アメリカWebb Schoolとの交流会
アメリカテネシー州ノックスビルにあるWebb School の中学生6名、先生保護者3名が、日本研修中の2024年月30日（木）放課後、順天を訪問してくださり、本校中学3年生11名、高校2年生3名と交流会を実施しました。
参加者全員が積極的に楽しく参加し、言葉の壁を感じさせない、とても温かく充実した交流会となりました。
以下は参加生徒による日本語と英語の報告です。
2024年5月30日、僕たち順天生14人と、アメリカテネシー州の “The Webb school”の生徒6人と文化交流会をしました。
僕たちは最初に “Welcoming Ceremony”として、アメリカ人留学生と一緒にビンゴをしました。そして、仲が少し深まったところで、自分の学校である『順天中学・高等学校』の校舎と校舎の隣にある『王子神社』の境内を案内しました。学校案内では、吹奏楽部、ダンス部、バトン部の部活動の様子を見ることができました。吹奏楽部は美しい音楽、ダンス部とバトン部は華麗なダンスで僕たちを迎えてくれました。そして、王子神社紹介では、お賽銭をするときのルールや、境内の中に展示されている御神輿の説明などをしました。 そして最後に“Closing Ceremony”を38番教室で行いました。
僕はリスニングに自信があったものの、彼らの話す英語はとても速く、ついていくのに精一杯でした。しかし、僕の綺麗とはいいがたい英語でもしっかりと言いたいことを伝えることができたのでいい経験と自信になりました。またこのような機会があったらぜひ参加したいです。
また、このような学ぶチャンスを与えてくださった、順天中学校、並びにこの交流会に参加してくださった“The Webb School”の皆様に感謝をしたいです。

School Exchange with the students from America
The precious experience of us interacting with students from Tennessee led us to improve in our English skills. We used English to communicate so we were able to know how much improvement we need, especially for students going to New Zealand.
We started preparing for it from a month before the event and I personally was able to talk with students from other classes and grades. We planned what to do for the first week. For example, we talked about what game to do. Because there wasn’t enough time for us to play difficult games, we decided to do bingo. It was enthusiastic since we had prizes. It was my first experience to play animal and vegetable bingo and we enjoyed a lot.
I was with a Japanese boy and a student from America. We found common interest; it was watching animes. She told me the story of her brother taking almost two years watching the whole One-piece anime. We strolled around the school for thirty minutes and then went to the Oji shrine next our school. We also watched performances for the baton twirling, music, and dance club.
I was able to use my English skills wisely in this interaction. I felt that I needed more improvements since I got stuck when talking. But, I am really satisfied with what I did. I was able to make friends and I am still texting her.
